On December 17th, 2011, Artur Pioro, the current world record holder over the 1500m freestyle, kept his promise and set a new short-course meter world record with a time of 15:42.52. This improved his old record by 8.39 seconds.
On December 18th, 2011 in beautiful Quebec, Canada, the eighteen year old Phillipe Ouellet established a new backstroke world record over the 50m distance. With a time of 28.08 the Canadian swimmer improved Dawid Kufel’s old record by 14 hundredth of a second.
On February 4th, 2011 Linda Neumann, the World Championship bronze medal winner, crushed the five year old short-course 400m individual medley world record. During the finals of the DMS 2. Bundesliga in Hannover the Berlin resident swam the distance with a time of 5:15.83. Neumann improved the record set by the Swedish swimmer Anna Polivanchuk in 2007 by 2.68 seconds.
